BAPTISM
Ready to take your next step in faith? Let’s celebrate what God is doing in your life.

Baptism is an outward expression of an inward transformation. It’s how we publicly declare that we’ve placed our faith in Jesus and made the decision to follow Him.
At Open Arms, we practice water baptism, following Jesus’ example and the early church’s teaching. Whether you’ve just come to faith or are recommitting your life to Christ, baptism is a powerful step in your journey.

Who should get baptized?
If you’ve said “yes” to Jesus and want the world to know—you’re ready.
We welcome:
New believers ready to make a public profession of faith
Young people and kids who have put their faith in Jesus and want to take this bold next step
Those who were baptized as children and now want to rededicate their lives to Christ with a renewed understanding
FOR PARENTS OF KIDS + YOUTH
Many of our NextGen Kids and Youth decide to get baptized after learning about Jesus in their Sunday classes. We believe parents are the primary disciplers of their children, and baptism is an incredible moment to lead, guide, and celebrate together.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I wear?
We’ll provide you with a special baptism t-shirt to wear during the service. Underneath, we recommend dark-colored, modest clothing like shorts, leggings, or a swimsuit. Bring a towel, a change of clothes, and anything else you’ll need to feel comfortable after. We also have private areas for you to change before and after the baptism.

Can my family and friends come watch?
Absolutely! Baptism is a celebration—and what better way to mark this moment than with your people cheering you on? We’ll let you know the time and location in advance so you can invite anyone you’d like to be there. Our church family will also be there celebrating with you!

What if I was baptized as a baby?
We honor the love and intention behind infant baptisms and christenings—it often reflects your family’s desire to raise you in faith. At Open Arms, we practice believer’s baptism, which is a personal decision made when someone chooses to follow Jesus for themselves. Many adults choose to be baptized again as a way to publicly affirm that choice. If that’s your heart, we’d be honored to walk with you through it.

Can kids be baptized?
Yes! Many of our NextGen Kids and Youth decide to be baptized after learning about Jesus and what it means to follow Him. We walk closely with parents to make sure kids understand the decision they’re making and are ready to take that next step in their faith. If your child is asking about baptism or expressing interest, we’ve created a Parent Conversation Guide to help you talk through it together.

Do I need to be perfect before I get baptized?
Definitely not. Baptism isn’t about having it all together—it’s about placing your trust in the One who does. It’s a step of obedience that says, “I’ve decided to follow Jesus with my life.” If you believe in Him, want to follow Him, and haven’t yet been baptized as a believer, then you’re ready. God meets you right where you are.
